It’s that time again. The season where future CEOs use all their best sales tactics to get us to buy not 1, not 2, but 10 or more boxes of delicious Girl Scout cookies (I know I can’t be the only one who stocks up). The season when “who’s selling Girl Scout cookies?” is posted to your Facebook mom group at least twice a week. The season of classic favorites like Thin Mints and Samoas and the return of S’mores and Toffee-tastic. See all the Girl Scout cookies for 2018.
It’s Girl Scout cookie season and as parents of a Daisy we encourage everyone in the community to support your local North Texas troop.
Known as the Cookie Program, these young girls learn so many life skills. First, they set a sales goal and pre-order boxes accordingly. Second, some create a marketing plan then as a troop agree to reserve a space to sell the cookies such as your local grocery store, or a territory in their neighborhood or surrounding area. Their plan may also include digital marketing through text messages. All this in addition to carefully tracking their sales. It’s truly an amazing program and for some, their first endeavor into entrepreneurship.
Did you know Girl Scouts give back? Learn how one troop is helping Hurricane Harvey victims.
So remember all this, the next time a little girl with a Girl Scouts vest arrives at your door with her wagon of goodies. You just may be the fuel she needs to boost her confidence enough to knock on the next door.
