It gets hot here in Dallas, and yet every summer I’m always surprised when the temperatures rise. If you’re looking for free fun and a place to let your kids run, splash and cool off, look no further. Enjoy these Dallas area splash parks, including some of our kids’ favorites.
1. Parr Park
3010 Parr Lane, Grapevine, TX
Parr Park is like visual candy for kids. Water sprays out of fun, colorful structures surrounded by lots of mature trees.
2. The Village Fountain, Allen, TX
Fountain Court, Fairview, TX, 75069
Located off highway 75, The Villages of Fairview is a hotbed for restaurants and shops but for the little ones, it’s the fountain that makes it so attractive. Kids can splash and parents can seek shelter under a tree or neighboring restaurant patio. As an added bonus, the interactive fountain is choreographed to hit artists like Celine Dion and Michael Jackson. Plus, prepare to be dragged across the small, but busy, parking lot to the Beach where the kids can play in the sand or slide.
3. Klyde Warren Park
2012 Woodall Rodgers Freeway, Dallas, TX 75201
If I had to pick one of my favorite spaces in Dallas, it would be Klyde Warren Park. It’s a large open space, perfect for picnics, lots of play and bordered by food trucks. Yum! The Children’s Park is an attractive mix of fun and the splash pad is hilly and natural. Even when crowded, it doesn’t feel too overwhelming. Bathrooms are a short walk from the pad as if they finally consulted a parent on the proper layout of a park. Plus, there’s lots of visibility to set your helicopter-parent mind at ease. Security and cameras are also on-site.
4. Celebration Park, Allen, TX
701 Angel Pkwy., Malone Dr. and Angel Pkwy., Allen, TX 75002
This park spans 104-acres so it’s no surprise that it hosts the city’s Independence Day celebration each year. However, it’s the splash pad that reigns during those hot summer days. Probably one of the bigger pads in the area, it’s colorful, fun and next to an equally entertaining playground that’s also handicapped-accessible, which we really love.
5. W.J. Thomas Splash Park
1955 N. Perry Road, Carrollton, TX 75006
Carrollton makes a splash with this pad nestled in a quiet neighborhood with mature trees which offer plenty of shade.
